Hey there, gorgeous.

Welcome to the site. I’m so glad you made it.

So you’re interested in journaling. Well, you’ve come to the right place! Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, this site has everything you need for guidance and inspiration.

Allow me to give you the grand tour.

Oh – before we get started, make sure you’re signed up for the free, weekly BIG DIG email. Thousands of clever and good-looking people just like you already get the BIG DIG every week.

The BIG DIG email delivers journal prompts for digging deep each week. Subscribers also gain access to the BIG DIG archives, for a nearly limitless supply of journaling inspiration. I’ll even let you in on extra special offers available only to subscribers. Don’t miss out!

Hate spam? Me too! No worries – I promise to keep your email private. And I’ll only send 1-2 emails per week. You can unsubscribe at any time, but you won’t want to. (Unless my potty mouth or fondess for emu offends you.)

Need more information? Get all the details about the BIG DIG here.

Okay, now that we’ve got that squared away, let’s start that tour.

Who am I, anyway?

My smiling faceFirst, let me introduce myself.

My name is Kristin and journal writing saved my life.

I’m a writer by trade and I’ve been journaling daily for more than two decades. I created this site so everyone can enjoy the benefits of this amazing practice.

When I’m not journaling, I like to run up hills, read social psychology books and ride my Vespa in the rain. If you’re curious, you can read more about the site, my mission and me.

Always feel free to drop me a line and say hi, ask a question, or chat about emu. I’ll do my best to get back to you right away.

Start journaling

Let’s get you started with your new journaling life.

As an introduction, I suggest listening to Podcast #1: Get Started Journaling. All the podcasts are full of encouragement – like a private peptalk from me to you. Plus the theme music is really fun. Listen to them on the site or subscribe through iTunes.

My guide How to Journal in 10 Simple Steps is the perfect way to get started. This section of the site is a friendly introduction to the nuts and bolts of keeping a journal. The guide includes a step-by-step process for creating your own journal practice. It will also direct you to other helpful posts on the site for further exploration.

If you want the luxury guided tour for journaling, check out my eBook, 30 Days to a Journaling Life. It’s only 9 bucks!

Keep Journaling

Already journaling regularly? Keep up the stellar work.

Perhaps it’s time to try something new. Visit the Journal Topics category, where you’ll find a treasure trove of stimulating journal prompts, fresh ideas and helpful tips. Also check out my eBook, 30 Days to a Journaling Life, for some new writing exercises.

If a creativity boost is what you need, head over to the Creative Journal Ideas category, which includes posts on art journals, visual journaling and other topics to get the juices flowing. This is a great section for getting your hands dirty. In a good way.

Have a look at my recommended Journal Tools and Supplies for journaling book reviews and other recommended products. While you’re there, you’ll witness my dreadful case of paper lust, too. (Symptoms include: uncontrollable gushing over notebooks, lengthy discussions of paper textures, and collecting of journals without intent to write in them.)

The Journaling Resources section is also helpful. It contains interviews with your fellow journalers and links to websites you’ll love.

Last but not least, there’s a collection of reader favorites gathered together in The Best of Journaling Saves. And if you’d like an instant case of eyestrain, go on over to the Archive Index where all entries are listed alphabetically by title.

Journaling Saves Community

I must say, we’re a friendly bunch.

Catch up with your fellow journalers and me on the Journaling Saves Facebook page. You’ll find a wealth of ideas, suggestions and support. If you stop by, be sure to post a comment on the wall and say hi!

We’ve also got a Flickr group where you can upload photos of your journals, art journal pages, or obsessive stacks of notebooks (those are mine). Come join in the fun.

I’m on Twitter, against my better judgment. It’s a giant gaping timesuck so I try not to go in alone. But do DM me if you’re in the neighborhood. I’m @JournalingSaves.

And, of course, there’s the awesome free weekly newsletter, but you already signed up for that. (Right?)

So that’s the site in a nutshell. Questions? Drop me a line and I’ll see if I can help.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope to see you around the site again soon!
